Welcome and thank you for visiting the website of Dr. Shari Muir. She is currently in private practice in the North Atlanta area of Buckhead. She also serves an indigent population at a community clinic in Northeast Georgia.
Her mission is to deliver hope and healing with compassion. She strives to ease the suffering associated with mental illness so that individuals can live a significant and purpose-filled life. Dr. Muir's practice model balances the art of psychiatry, medicine, psychotherapy, and cultural sociology with foundational Christian principles. However, Dr. Muir has taken many religious studies throughout her educational experiences and trained at the University of California, Irvine where the department of psychiatry offers a spirituality forum. Thus, she is able to address a variety of spiritual needs as they relate to overall mental wellness.
Dr. Muir provides general psychiatric services for all adults (18 to 64 years old) who suffer from mood, anxiety, and thought disorders. These services include initial psychiatric evaluations, medication management of psychiatric illness, pre-pregnancy psychiatric evaluations, psychotherapy, combination medication management and psychotherapy, spiritual, and nutritional counseling.
Dr. Muir was awarded the esteemed 2008 Wyeth Pharmaceuticals Fellowship by the Association of Women Psychiatrists for excellence and outstanding achievement in women's mental health. This national award is only given to two physicians annually. She was also awarded for her women's mental health clinic, the first at University of California, Irvine Medical Center. Furthermore, she received the 2008 Excellence in Teaching Award from UC Irvine School of Medicine and the 2009 Spirit of Service Award from the UCI Department of Psychiatry for her work in Rwanda, Africa. In October 2010, she achieved national certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, Inc.
Her professional associations include the Christian Medical and Dental Association, Association of Women Psychiatrists, American Psychiatric Association, Georgia Psychiatric Physicians Association and Atlanta Women's Medical Alliance.
Dr. Muir has a heart for helping anyone who is in need. It is her pledge to use her knowledge, experience, education, and wisdom to provide you with the best psychiatric care.
